Reality Based Eyes

A bush of blonde hair bobbed in the bustling crowd of the airport. An elder man glanced up when the color caught his eye, smiling, his eyes lighting.
“Jounochi!”
The blonde looked his way, face lighting up. “Hey Gramps!” He ran up to meet the other. He leaned down, giving the elder a large hug. “How’s it goin’?”
Sugoroku smiled. “Fine, fine. Same old.” Jounochi stood straight, nodding. He glanced around the airport, looking around for another familiar face. “Wasn’t Yugi…”
“No. Not out yet.”
Jounochi’s face fell, eyes adverting to the ground. “I…see.”
“We can still go see him Jounochi.” Jounochi nodded, picking up his bags wordlessly. He followed Sugoroku out of the airport, and to his car. Sugoroku opened the door to the back, placing Jounochi’s bags in.
“So, how was America?”
Jounochi beamed. “Oh great! Anzu is having a blast in New York, and it really is just like the pictures, but there’s more to it. I still prefer here, but,” he laughed. “Great vacation time, that’s for sure. Thanks, again Gramps for helping me cover the costs. Anzu has been wanting someone to come out and see her perform for ages. To…bad Yugi couldn’t come.”
Sugoroku slide into the front seat, nodding. “Yes, I know. I don’t think he’s going to be going anywhere soon.”
“Is he still living at home?” Jounochi asked, buckling his seat belt. Sugoroku shook his head, starting the car with sunken movements.
“Nope. His schizophrenia got way to dangerous for him to be at home alone. And his mother didn’t help at all…she doesn’t really understand so she just sent him to his room like when he was eight.” Sugoroku groaned at the memory. “Terrible idea…”
Jounochi sunk back into his seat. He rubbed his palm over the leather material. “Nice new car Gramps…from Seto?”
“As a present…kinda of a apology for not helping before…you know, when Yugi was younger. He’s helping pay for our medical bills as well.” Sugoroku chuckled. “When I talk to him, he is a rude as can be, but he wants Yugi to come back. He says, “to be the king of games” but I know it’s because he cares.”
Jounochi nodded. “Amazing still to me…almost killed Yugi so many times…” he shook his head, leaning his head against the window. “Can we go visit Yugi first?”
Sugoroku smiled a small, soft, smile. “Sure Jounochi. I was heading there anyways.”

!!!!!!!!

“Jounochi!” A young boy yelled, running up to give his friend a giant hug. Jounochi grabbed Yugi around the waist, hoisting him into the air.
“Hey there Yugi!” Yugi laughed, punching at Jounochi’s shoulder, yelling to get down. Jounochi did so, setting him on the ground. He looked Yugi over, smiling when he noticed that Yugi did not wear the typical, white patient clothing, but his normal navy pants and white top. Yet, he was paler than before, and most of the muscle on his arms had disappeared.
‘He’s lost weight again…I hope it’s because of the medication…’ Jounochi thought, though he continued to smile. “So Yugi, how you been?”
Yugi laughed, grinning. “I’m fine Jounochi. Just fine. How was Anzu? Is she enjoying herself?”
Jounochi nodded, letting his body relax. It was nice to be able to have a civil conversation with Yugi for once in a long time. “She’s doing great. She misses you, Yugi.” Yugi smiled sadly, nodding.
“Yeah…” he trailed off, the two now standing in silence. Jounochi felt the tension, and he quickly sought to ride themselves of it.
“So Yugi, can you go outside at all?” he asked. Yugi nodded.
“Yeah, it’s fine. Lets go, they really don’t let me out unless I have friends or something.” Yugi grabbed Jounochi’s wrist, dragging him down the hallway. Jounochi kept his eyes straight, not daring to look in the windows of the other patients. One wobbled down the hallway next to them, eyes wide and unseeing; a thousand mile stare. The man was dressed all in white, typical clothing. Jounochi tried to advert his eyes, but he could still feel it when the man passed. Mumbling to himself, salvia dripping from his mouth…Jounochi clutched his eyes shut for a moment, trying to rid his mind of the image.
He couldn’t bear the thoughts. Sometimes…they were just too much for him to bear.
“Jounochi, you don’t mind if Mou Hitori no Boku joins us, do you?” Yugi asked, smiling.
Jounochi forced out a smile. “N-no. That’s fine.”
Yugi smile widened. “Mou Hitori no Boku, he said it’s fine! Besides, your friends with him remember…hehe, he’s being stubborn today Jounochi, don’t mind him.”
Jounochi smiled his fake smile before Yugi looked away, and it fell to a deep frown. He sucked in his lip, blinking furiously. Jounochi in took another deep breath through his nose before allowing his face to relax.
“Here we are!” Yugi exclaimed, opening the slide door to patio painted an eye blinding white. The sun shone through the trees surrounding the backyard, and reflected of the porch into Jounochi’s eyes.
He squinted, slowly walking out. Yugi let go of his arm, running to the middle of the deck and sitting down.
Yugi tilted from side to side, taking in large, deep breaths of the summer air. “Mou Hitori no Boku usually doesn’t come outside, but he did go out and get me these,” Yugi held up some flowers that were hidden under his shirt. “They don’t like flowers here cuz some people have allergies. But…Mou Hitori no Boku said I need flowers.” Yugi laughed, smelling the black eyed Susan’s. “Pretty.”
Jounochi nodded, slowly walking over to Yugi. The boy was so pale, Jounochi could not see where the deck ended and Yugi began. “yeah Yugi…that’s nice.”
“Jounochi, stop holding your tongue,” Yugi said, turning around, a frown marred over his face. “I can tell when your holding back your words. What is it?”
Jounochi groaned, sitting down beside Yugi. “You know what it is…Yugi you…haven’t gotten any better.”
Yugi glared, the mask of happiness shattered. “Oh, yeah. I know, you don’t think Mou Hitori no Boku is here. But he is. You couldn’t see him before, so why did you believe me then?”
“Because he was there Yugi,” Jounochi muttered. “I saw him in you. You’re talking to air right now…”
Yugi huffed. “Ha-ha. You’re SO funny Jounochi. I didn’t ask you to come and tell me I’m insane, I have little nurses in white coats to do that everyday. I was hoping you could come and we could just…hang out, ya know…” Yugi’s shoulders hunched, his head dropping between them. “Like before…”
“Yugi,” Jounochi began, pinching between his eyes. “Until you admit you have schizophrenia, things are not going to go back to normal.”
“I am not insane!!” Yugi screamed, throwing the flowers at Jounochi’s chest. “You all…think I’m a raving lunatic…”
“Yugi, you tried to…” Jounochi trailed off, eyes adverting to the side. He clenched his fingers together, closing his eyes.
“I wanted to see Mou Hitoti no…”
“He has a name Yugi, use it. You went through so much trouble to get it, why don’t you just call him Atemu!”
Yugi glared. “Because he does not want to be. Because he is MY other self! Not the pharaoh of Egypt.”
Jounochi clenched his teeth, his whole face tensing up before letting them relax. “I’m not arguing with you Yugi, not now.”
Yugi turned away, biting his lip. “I’m sorry. I brought it up…I’m…sorry Jounochi.” Yugi rubbed his hands over his face. “Look what I’ve done? Ruined our friendship, almost made Grandpa go bankrupt on the Game Shop…for what? I’m not even living right now…”
He paused, swallowing. “I’m just….here. Sitting around. Doing…nothing…but…” Yugi sniffed, shoulders shaking. “Talk to walls. I know he’s real, but they say he’s not so many times I just…”
Jounochi placed a hand on Yugi’s shoulder, trying to calm him. “Hey, it’s okay…”
“I’m sorry Jounochi.”
Jounochi smiled. “Look, it’s fine Yugi. You know, it’s fine, cuz I’ll always be here for you, and you can count on that.”
Yugi shook his head, rubbing his hands over his face faster. “I’m sorry Mou Hitori no Boku…I brought you back…to life only to make you die again…” Jounochi sighed, rubbing his hands over Yugi’s shoulder.
“Lets go back inside Yugi.”
Yugi shook his head. “NO! I want to stay out here!”
Jounochi swallowed, forcing a lump down his throat. “Common,” he reached over grabbing Yugi around the waist and hoisting him up onto his shoulder. He knew what was going to come; little kicks, punches, screaming. And probably hyperventilation, if not more screaming.
“Let me down, let me down!! Mou Hitori no Boku, make him let me go!! Mou Hitori no Boku’s gona get you Jounochi!” Yugi screamed, punching at his back. “He-he…let me go!!”
Jounochi carried Yugi back inside, down the stained white hallway to Yugi’s room.
“Jounochi, down now!! No, let me down, go away!” Yugi cried, kicking his feet.
“I’m just going to your room.”
“No, no, I want to go home! I don’t want to go to my ROOM! I want to go home with Grandpa!”
Jounochi called a nurse to help him open the door. “No!” Yugi screamed. “Do not bring those bitches in white to my room! I hate them!! If you bring them, I’ll…I’ll tell Mou Hitori no Boku to do whatever he wants to you!! He can kill you, you know that!”
Jounochi sighed, finally getting someone to open the door. He walked inside, placing Yugi on the bed. The nurse behind him closed the door. Yugi sat there, glaring. He crossed his arms and legs, turning his back to Jounochi
“I hate you…all of you…” he growled.
Jounochi sighed, allowing the comment to wash away. “I know you do now, but I’m just doing…what I think is right. Maybe…Yugi, maybe one day, this’ll all be behind us.” He turned around walking towards the door. He knocked, for the door can only be opened from the outside. He heard footsteps coming, so he stepped back.
His back met Yugi’s chest. Jounochi looked to the ceiling, sighing. “Yugi, I’ll come back later I promise…”
“Jounochi…there will be no later…” Jounochi’s eyes widened, his breath quickening. His eyes shook, sliding to the right.
Jounochi slowly turned, his face paling and his eyes widening. The room around them darkened, the white turning to an unholy black. Jounochi felt his legs quiver, his lungs pushing in each time he took a breath. Yugi’s eyes narrowed. “You continue to not listen…” he took a step towards Jounochi, his nose touching his. “And your touch…angers me.” Jounochi pressed himself against the wall, each breath coming out as a wheeze. His throat tightened, his hands shook; no thought passed through his struck numb mind.
Yugi’s eyes, his crimson eyes, locked with Jounochi. “He gave me free reign…Jounochi.” He took one step closer. “And I feel, no regret.”

It's Love, and You Know It

“So, you’re going to college?”
“Yeah, why wouldn’t I? You need a college degree to get anywhere now.”
“Yeah.”
“…Yeah?”
“But the States?”
Yugi sighed, folding his polo shirt and laying it on the pile. Atemu slouched against the dryer, arms folded. “I don’t have the scores to go in Japan Atemu.”
Atemu tightened his grip on his forearms, scowling. “Just don’t like the idea of you being so far away…” he muttered. Yugi rolled his eyes, picking up the large pile of cloths and walking out of the small laundry room.
“I’m over 18 Atemu. You were ruling a freaking whole country my age, I think if you could do that, I can go to the States for college.” Atemu followed, arms still folded. He ducked through the doorway, maroon dyed spikes hitting the wooden rim. After coming back from Egypt on their final battle, Yugi soon realized that Atemu’s hair really was completely black. Yugi’s odd colors were still oddly natural, but Atemu did need to dye his almost every month on different spots to keep the color. Yugi had no clue how they did it thousands of years ago, but Yugi tried not to question the Egyptians too much.
Atemu followed closely behind Yugi, his nose almost touching the back of Yugi’s neck. Yugi glanced back, narrowing his eyes. “Space?”
“Psh.”
Yugi sighed, pushing his door open with his shoulder and practically throwing his clothes on the bed. He sat down in his desk chair, swirling. “Atemu, with me going to school overseas, it’ll be a good experience for both of us…”
“Don’t see how,” Atemu cut in, sitting on the floor, his back to Yugi’s bed.
“Maybe tone down your possessiveness?”
“Fuck that.”
Yugi glared. “Watch your tongue, especially around grandpa, he’s sensitive.” Atemu rolled his eyes, turning his body a bit so it was angled away from Yugi. He slouched, head dipping between his shoulders. Yugi rested his left elbow on his desk, placing his head in his palm. His eyelids lowered, irises turning a dark plum shade.
Yugi blinked, watching Atemu intently. “Does it really bother you that much?” he asked. Atemu turned himself more so Yugi couldn’t see his face. “We’ll still be able to talk, like, everyday. Phone, IM, even old fashion letters. …facebook,” he laughed. Atemu sighed, rubbing his right hand over his face.
“I know,” he muttered.
“Than what’s the problem.” Atemu didn’t answer. Yugi stood walking closer. He ducked down, resting his hand on Atemu’s shoulder.
“Think I’m gona find someone else?” Yugi asked softly.
“No,” Atemu huffed. “You wouldn’t do that. It’s…everything else…” he trailed off, letting his shoulders fall slightly. “not being able to see you everyday, feel you…” Atemu reached up with his right hand, placing it over Yugi’s. He rubbed his thumb over Yugi’s fingers, lips twitching up into a smile. “I don’t really know. I just have a bad feeling about it…that’s all.”
Yugi kneeled beside Atemu, gently taking his hands from Atemu’s shoulders and wrapping them around the Egyptians waist. Yugi nuzzled his neck, inhaling and then exhaling deeply. “I like to take you gut feelings, but this is one that I have a really good feeling about.”
Atemu nodded, sighing. He began wringing the front of his dark navy t-shirt nervously. “Yes. But, my gut feeling brought a country back from war.”
Yugi laughed, but tried to cover it. “My gut told me the right time to tell you, and it was the perfect time.”
“I knew exactly how long you needed before we had sex.”
Yugi gaped, “Oh, you did not!” He released his hands, gently smacking upside the head,
Atemu grinned. “I also knew in my gut that you were aggressive during sex.”
“Atemu!” Yugi whined, pushing the Egyptian away. His face reddened and began to grow warm. Yugi rubbed his hands over his face, turning his back to Atemu. He crossed his legs and arms, hunching his back. Atemu turned as well, eyes narrowing like a predator who’s caught his prey.
“Wana hit me again, beautiful?” he purred, gently running his fingers up and around Yugi’s shoulder. Yugi scoffed, cursing a to his lips as they fell into a pout.
“Atemu, your gut is wrong.”
“About the sex part?”
Yugi rolled his eyes. “No,” he spun in a quick circle, pushing Atemu to the ground. He locked his hips around Atemu’s right leg, settling in. Yugi took in a deep breath, body twitching in reaction to the touch. He leaned forward, gently brushing his lips over Atemu’s.
“Cheat,” Atemu groaned as Yugi’s knee brushed his hard on through the jeans.
Yugi smiled, cracking open one eye. “You’re the one with the gut feel about it. I’m just reinforcing it,” he whispered in a husky tone, lips curling more into a smirk. Yugi leaned forward, pushing his lips against Atemu’s and locking his hands around the other’s wrists. Atemu squirmed, trying to break his hands free, but failing.
“Damn gut feeling…” he moaned, head tilting back.
“You like being held down...” Yugi whispered back, arching his body. “…and you know it.”

Coke Zero
[info]dmyamiyugi
Title: Coke Zero
Number of words: 710
Time: ~45 min
UNEDITED

~!~!~!~

Sometimes, a loved one will stare longingly at a picture of them. They would kiss the picture, and even pretend to make love. Some will buy the cologne he wears, hoping that being able to smell him near makes her feel better.
I drink Coke Zero.
Yes, I am conscious of my weight, but drinking Coke Zero…well, the reason is not because of their “Coke taste” that is for sure. To tell the truth, I like Diet products. I do not know why, but my tongue has always been drawn to that fake sugary taste.
I do not like Coke Zero. It is far too sweet, and to be exact, it just tastes bad.
But I still drink it. Brandon did not even really push drinking Zero as much as being a veggie (which I have currently gotten down to one meal of meat a day. I am proud of myself) yet, I drink it. If I am missing him, missing him so much I cannot even find a way to curb the lonely feeling I have, I drink it.
The minute I take a sip, I do not feel much better, but for some reason when I think, “I am drinking Coke Zero…” my heart lifts. Maybe my heart is lifting because the sugar for the coke (or Splendia as I like to call it) is clogging my arteries, making it compress.
Who can say? Not I.
Yet, I do it anyway. I drink it, and savor the taste I do not really have a fancy for. I lick my lips after, closing my eyes and letting out a sigh of relief. The funny smell of his house of cats always mixes with the sugary taste of coke zero. It is all he drinks, except for milk of course. He should drink more protean drinks, but I do not push the subject.
Continuing, I remember watching a movie at his house and all they had was Coke Zero. At first, I was excited. I had never tried it before. After a sip, I realized it was not my taste. Brandon mocked me, his face taking on a look of appall when I set down the can and said “no more”. I remember his looks.
At first, it was as if he wore a mask or sorts. Not a strong one, but it was hard to take it off in anyone was within five feet of us. Exaggeration? Well, what do storytellers do, you tell me!
His mask was strong, and many times it only showed a select few emotions. Sad, happy, annoyed, and of course my favorite: blah.
As I drank my Coke Zero, cringing at the sweet taste, his mask waned. With each sip along with each day I watched the mask fad away. As each flake fell, I noticed him cringing as well. He wanted the mask to fall; yet at the same time he did want it to.
I wanted to like the Coke, but I also didn’t like it at first. So, I continued on drinking the Coke Zero, and my taste buds began growing used to the sugary Splendia.
And, as time passes, his mask falls, revealing something far greater underneath. Though he does not see it, he is beautiful. Though he seems to hate to admit it, he is one of a kind. Though he seemed to fear the world, he now welcomes it.
And at one time, I remember him just talking about darkness, and now he talks of light. He probably does not want to be that close to the light, but then again, nor do I wish to be drinking this Coke Zero.
But I do. Every sip is a flicker of memories inside my mind, and by the time the sips are done, I remember a whole day of us. I remember the summer, I remember the winter, and I remember days we spent lying around his house, watching TV and nothing else.
I remember so much, that I continue drinking this sugary drink. It tastes better than the first time, but still is not very good. That is okay though. In each sip, I see his face and remember his laugh, mocking me for not liking the Zero.

Times are changing
[info]dmyamiyugi
So, I m currently going to Iowa. And, as of late, my mood has changed, or well, my whole situation changed. My boyfriend, Brandon, was going to go to Iowa as well, but he also applied to MSU and UM (I'm from Michigan and so is he) and he got a 10,000 a year to UM.

Duuuur, I made him go lol xD But now, I'm planning on moving back to Michigan to go to school at MSU or UM.

Ohhhh man, are the apps hard D8 have at least an essay for both (three for UM) and just is taking awhile, since I start second semester in a few days. I still have to move back as well. it's gona be a change, that's for sure.

I also have had some doubts on my creative writing major. I'm thinking maybe I just like doing it as a past time, and not as a full time job. I mean, I love to write, but....rwar, sometimes I just get nothing when I NEEEEEED something xD

So who knows what the hell I might change it to, I dunno. I suppose I'll see eventually.......just now I have so much more to figure out and I start classes next week D8

and since Japanese travels over the whole year, I have a japanese test next....Thursday? Dude, been a whole month since I studied Japanese. My brother did get back from Japan on Christmas day (was great, driving to O'Hare on christmas day xD) but I didn't take my chance to practice with him. He had a lot else to do anywai, like find a place to live this semester (which he did, but was veeeeeery lucky to do so lol)

so yup.......

better keep packing lol

And I'm behind in Creative Writing with my Dialogue peice. Cha.

Brandon promised to come into Culvers today -_- Ok, he didn't promise, but said maybe. Ok. I overreacted xD But I got my hopes up! xD ...first weeks of a relationship is hard, i feel so clingy to him ._. which is bad, cuz i don't want to depend on my happiness being him...even though I see him everyday except for weekends xD Ahhh, hormones stfu D<

Summery- Even if a path was drawn out thousands of years ago by Egyptian ink, does not mean that that path cannot be redrawn and changed. Even the simplest decisions can create a whole different ending.

~!~!~!~!~!~!

The path seemed wet from the last rain. Blue swings drifted to and fro in the gentle spring breeze, the graying sun illuminating the cracks that spit each one in half. The trees were bare, and the only leaves that could be seen were far off near the skyline of the city. Leaves scattered behind two feet, breaking apart to let him through. The clouds floated slowly out of the sun’s eyes, letting its rays brighten the earth.
Feet stopped and the leaves drifted to the ground. He glanced back at them, raising his brow in question. The leaves broke one again, fluttering to either side of his shadow. The boy smirked, turning his head to the sky.
“Pretty?” he asked, violet eyes shining in the depleting sun. “Change your mind?”
“Yours?”
The boy closed his eyes, laughing loudly. “Maybe.” He turned fully, ruffling his scarf around his neck before burying his hands in his coat pocket. A transparent mirror of himself stood in his shadow, hips leaning forward casually. His red eyes stood out, shining off every setting ray. He pushed his hands into imaginary pockets, walking out of the boys shadow.
His body congealed until it seemed completely solid, yet only one could see him. He smirked, walking further, spinning on his heel and sitting on the cracked seat.
The boy raised his brow. “Yes?” he asked, a smile tugging at his lips. The sun filtered behind dense grey clouds, letting a peaceful shade settle over them. The man inclined his hand to the other seat.
The boy rolled his eyes, strolling over to plop down. “Happy, Mou hitori no boku?” he grinned. The man sighed.
“Atemu?”
The boy’s smile diminished. He arched his neck, gazing behind himself. “If I have to call you Atemu, you can’t call me Aibou. It’s Yugi.” Atemu frowned, wrapping his arms around the chains. He pushed his foot into the ground, sending the swing back. He lifted his leg to allow himself to float back.
“Sorry, Aibou,” he murmured. Yugi smiled, arching his back so he could see the sunset fully.
“It’s fine Atemu.” The sun lowered behind some of the skyscrapers of his home city. A lone pink petal drifted across his vision. Yugi frowned curiously, watching the petal drift with the wind. He cocked his head to the side, eyes watching the light pink object. “Hey Atemu, is there a Sakura in this park?”
Atemu sat up straight, looking over Yugi’s body and turning his head around to look the other way. “No, I don’t think so. Why?”
Yugi smirked, pushing himself. He lifted off the ground and flew back. He could see another petal float past the sun and Atemu’s upside-down body. He swung back before swinging his legs to propel himself up again, arching his back to lean off the swing.
“Don’t fall now,” Atemu grinned. Yugi smiled.
“Don’t worry. But if I do, you’ll catch me anyway. Even if I do it on purpose.”
Atemu watched Yugi fly back and then up into the air, smirking. “Yes, but I wouldn’t be happy about it.”
Yugi kicked his feet into the air, staring back at the sunset. “I hope this isn’t your last sunset in Domino.” Atemu’s lips slowly fell, his eyes gazing at the sky opposite the sun. Yugi continued to swing, arching his body upside-down every swing. Atemu twisted his swing, kicking at the dirt around him. The wind picked up lifting the light dirt into the air. He turned towards the sun, raising his hand to the great fire. The rays filtered through his palm, still shining on his face. Atemu smiled, running the hand through his hair. “Hey, the sun’s almost gone,” Yugi, said, running his feet over the ground throughout several swings so he would stop. Atemu nodded, inclining his head to the side.
“Think if we run away, they’ll notice?” Atemu asked.
Yugi slid to a stop. “Duh,” he groaned, plopping his elbows on his knees. “Besides, I know you want to go home.” Atemu sighed, spinning himself back and pushing back and forth. Another lone petal passed behind them, the sun just dipping lower behind the skyline. He stood, walking behind Yugi and folding his elbows over his head.
“You are really short Aibou.”
Yugi pouted, pushing his hands into his face, trying to hid the childish action. “I really could not tell Atemu,” he muttered. Atemu grinned, letting his arms slide down Yugi’s head to rest on his shoulders. His forearms wrapped around Yugi’s neck. He pushed his face into the spiked hair, sighing.
Yugi closed his eyes, folding his arms over his lap. “I thought you wanted to find your memories, and you did. You can leave things half done Atemu,” he muttered. Atemu sighed, tilting his head to the side.
“Kinda wish I could.” Yugi smirked.
“Sorry. You’re taught to be a ruler, and rulers don’t leave what they started unfinished.” Atemu laughed.
“May I-”
“No.”
Atemu rubbed his face into Yugi’s hair. “Well, if you had just confessed sooner, I wouldn’t have started looking.”
Yugi huffed, turning his head towards Atemu’s. “Oh come on! You were the one who told me! Geez,” he turned back his head, plopping his head in his left hand. “Way to make me feel bad. Sorry, I love you, can you not die please, kthx?” Yugi blew upwards, heaving a long breath out of his lungs. Atemu blinked, smile gone.
“I guess I should have thought-I thought you didn’t so…” Yugi smiled, patting Atemu’s arms.
“It’s not your fault.” He gazed up at the pink and gold sky. The wind ruffled his hair, and blew a few strands into his face. “Hey, we should head back home. Our flight to Egypt leaves early tomorrow.” Yugi tried to stand, but Atemu pushed his weight down over his shoulders, keeping the boy there.
“Maybe if we tell Isis…she will let me stay. Or, or grandpa. Maybe...” Atemu smiled hesitantly. “Maybe.” Yugi tried to push to stand again, but Atemu prevented him from doing so.
“Atemu, you made your choice. And-and so have I,” his voice cracked with uncertainty. “We can’t run away from it. B-besides,” Yugi swallowed, closing his eyes to keep his frustrated tears at bay. “I already tried to tell…Jounochi.” Atemu’s arms tightened their hold, his teeth clenching.
“Why?”
Yugi pushed himself back on the swing, bumping into Atemu’s chest. “I didn’t tell you cuz I knew you wouldn’t agree. But, I did. I wanted to just tell someone, Atemu…anyone. He, he’s my best friend I though he would understand…” Atemu sighed, closing his eyes.
“What did he say?”
Yugi swallowed, and sighed. “Just walked away, saying ‘I’ll be rooting for ya Yug’ and that’s it.” Yugi leaned his head to the right and back, settling it on Atemu’s shoulder. “I don’t think he agreed.”
“Ya think?” Atemu growled, lowering his right arm so it draped around Yugi’s waist. Yugi closed his eyes, leaning his face away from Atemu’s.
“It was stupid. Most likely he will tell Anzu and Honda too, and grandpa and Isis and they will hate me,” his voice rose in volume, his hands clenching. “And they’ll make us fight still, and force all this shit and becau-god fuck it!” Yugi pushed himself up, out of Atemu’s arms. He stood, pacing away from Atemu and then back, rubbing his hands repeatedly over his face. “Do I want to fight⎯fuck no! Do I want to go to Egypt!?” he kicked a nearby tree. “No!”
“Do-I-want-friends,” he punched the tree. “who-don’t-like-me-for-who-I-am!?” With ever word, he impaled a kick or punch into the tree. “No I Don’t!” Yugi crashed his elbow into the tree, sliding to the ground. He covered his face with a black and blue hand, blood dripping from his knuckles and down his face. He let out a childish sob, rubbing his palms over his face. “Fuck it, fuck it!” he shouted, voice cracking.
A transparent hand reached forward, gently wiping at the tears. Atemu took Yugi’s hand in his, drawing up his own sleeve and dapping at the wounds.
“Aibou, you have a bad habit of bottling up your emotions,” he said, rubbing Yugi’s knuckles clean. Atemu sat down, leaning up against the tree and hauling Yugi into his lap. “I thought you were getting better.” Yugi sniffed, taking in a shaky breath.
“No…,” he closed his eyes, turning so his face fell on Atemu’s left chest. “I, I a,” he swallowed. “I actually lashed out at Jounochi too. I, didn’t mean to. He walked away and I got mad, so I kicked out his knees. I…” he sighed, curling and flexing his hand in front of his eyes.
Atemu smiled, petting his hands through Yugi’s hair. He arched his head, looking up through the branches of the dead tree Yugi decided to take his furry out on. He blinked, narrowing his eyes in thought before smiling. “Hey…there is a Sakura here.” Yugi looked up.
He sat in silence. “…It’s dying.” Atemu smiled, eyes shining.
“Yeah.”
Yugi closed his eyes, rubbing them. “When you reach the afterlife and see it, tell it I’m sorry.” Atemu laughed, rubbing his hands over Yugi’s scalp.
“Aibou, may I ask you something.” Yugi nodded, leaning in for him to continue.
Atemu did not say a word. Yugi glanced up at him, nudging his chest with his hand to continue. Atemu swallowed, eyes flickering from Yugi’s eyes to the ground behind him.
“I,” he began, looking up at the tree, “wish to stay here. With you, if you will take me.” Yugi’s head snapped back, but Atemu kept his eyes fixed on the Sakura’s branches. “I truly, do not wish to tell this tree that you punched him or her-wait, trees don’t have a sex.” Yugi started laughing, face planting his face into Atemu’s chest. Atemu blinked, not smiling nor laughing. “Seriously, they don’t, do they?” Atemu asked, rubbing his own head in question.
Yugi patted Atemu’s chest, smirking. “I already brought us train tickets to a city on Shikoku. It’s called Kochi.” Atemu blinked, his eyes closing slowly. His hand fell to the side and he took in a deep breath.
“Can we?”
Yugi leaned back on his heals, smiling. He whipped at his eyes again, smoothing his hand over his face to rid it of tear stains. Atemu brought his head down to stare at Yugi’s face. “Atemu, we’re beings in posses of three thousand year old magic. We share a mind and we can summon monsters. I think we can,” he winked, grinning. Atemu laughed.
“Some changes will have to made though,” he said with a poke to Yugi’s face. Yugi smiled, rocking himself into a stand. He swayed at the loss of blood, reaching up to grab his head. He outstretched his hand to Atemu.
Atemu blinked, eyeing the hand. “I remember something…very similar to this,” he murmured, taking the hand and standing. Yugi brushed himself off and then reached forward to brush off Atemu’s pants.
“I wouldn’t know,” he patted his empty chest, smiling. He rubbed it, looking to the sky. “I hid it somewhere where no one will find it,” he smirked. “So they can’t find your soul. It’s safer when it is not with us, besides, your magic, even without the puzzle, attracts attention.” Atemu rolled his eyes, pushing Yugi’s hand away. He turned towards the light pink sky behind them. He raised his hand towards the sun, shielding the last few rays from his eyes. No rays of sunlight hit his face. “I think this is the last sunset in this city for both of us,” he said. Yugi nodded.
“I know,” he reached forward, placing his hand over Atemu’s and positioning himself behind the other. “Hey, I remember this. Except,” he lowered their hands. “there was a door, a card to be exact. And we had to open the door, and I did not trust you.” He laughed lightly, “And yet, I still placed my hand right,” he lifted his hand and pushed it down on Atemu’s. “here. I wonder why?”
Atemu grinned, twisting his hand and wrapping it around Yugi’s. “I don’t know Aibou. There is a lot I don’t know, but hey,” he twisted them around so they were walking back towards Yugi’s house. “That is fine with me.”
Yugi trotted along with him, trying to keep up with the long stride. “You know your name, at least you got that…hey Atemu, are we gona stay in Japan?”
Atemu shrugged. “I don’t really know Aibou. Maybe, maybe not. First, we need to get somewhere, then decide” He paused, thinking for a moment. “…Aibou?”

“Huh, yeah?”

“Sure you’re fine with leaving your friends? I mean…they are…well,”

“Yeah, yeah, I’m fine. I told you, I whaled on Jounochi!”

“Heh, yes. But, want to think it over? We just blew two plane tickets to Egypt.”

“…Damn, your right…we should sell them.”

Atemu laughed. “Great idea Aibou,” he nuzzled Yugi’s cheek. “Now we set sail into the sunset!”
Yugi rolled his eyes. “The sun has already set Mou hitori no boku.”
Atemu smiled, tightening his hand around Yugi’s. “So?”
“…So?”
“Exactly.”
